ho sempre avuto grande stima per Lei e per la sua lunga militanza democratica. Perciò non capisco come abbia potuto firmare a tambur battente una legge indegna di un paese democratico come il lodo Alfano. Lei dice che la sua firma è stata meditata, e forse intendeva dire che lo considerava il male minore. Ma io, e come me molti italiani che hanno ancora la capacità di indignarsi di fronte alle violazioni della Costituzione da parte di una destra arrogante, non capiscono come sia possibile varare una legge apertamente incostituzionale. La Costituzione afferma che tutti i cittadini sono eguali davanti alla legge, e quindi anche senza essere giuristi, non si capisce come quattro cittadini siano più eguali degli altri (e migliaia meno eguali, come i clandestini, che, se delinquono subiscono un aggravio di condanna.) Scandalizza l’impudenza di Berlusconi, che appena varata la legge esclama: finalmente libero dalla persecuzione della magistratura. Non si configura in questa frase un oltraggio alla magistratura? Per quanto ne so, Lei aveva trenta giorni di tempo per firmare, poi avrebbe potuto rimandare alle camere la legge per sospetta incostituzionalità, e solo dopo il secondo riesame avrebbe dovuto comunque firmarla. Io credo che per amor di pace non si debba essere troppo acquiescenti con una destra antidemocratica. È già successo una volta, ottantasei anni fa.
